This podcast co-moderated by JDR Editors, Drs. William Giannobile and Joy Richman discusses dental phenotypes associated with orofacial clefting from the study published by Dr. Lina Moreno Uribe and co-workers. The interview dispels previously held views that dental anomalies are caused by the same genes as the clefts. The findings of the study demonstrate that a small subset of families carry increased genetic risk for both types of anomalies. The podcast concludes with insights on future directions on the genetics of non-syndomic craniofacial abnormalities.
